We haven't heard from our artist friends Mike and Vawn Gray in quite some time.  With the current economic turmoil, I wondered how they are doing in these tough times.  Art is one of those "want-it-but-don't-have-to-have-it" businesses and when money gets tight, it's often one of the first things that people cut from their budget.  We gave them a call last week.

Knowing how creative and innovative our friends are, it wasn't a big surprise to discover  they've found a way to adjust with the times and are doing quite well, thank you.






Always interested in all things earth-friendly and eco-conscious even before it was cool,  they're creating lovely art objects that are not only pleasing to the eye, but useful. And, even better, they're using recycled glass to produce their art.

Reborn Glass, the name of their "green-business",  takes glass that is otherwise thrown away and fuses it with heat into colorful, translucent images that are truly works of art.  Their most popular items are night lights dressed up in one of their fused glass creations.

Often, what we think are major problems and set-backs are really opportunities in disguise.  Today's challenges of fuel shortages, economic turmoil, and food alerts may be leading us into different ways of doing things that will, in the end, be our salvation.
